I deleted Instagram 18 months ago. No dramatic announcement, no goodbye post. Just gone. The first week was weird. I kept picking up my phone and thumb-hovering where the app used to be. By week three, I noticed something: I had opinions again. About music I actually liked, not what was algorithmically pushed at me. About my own life, not a curated highlight reel comparison. I'm not claiming purity โ I'm still on Twitter (X, whatever) and I doom scroll as much as anyone. But Instagram was the specific flavour of bad that got under my skin. The influencer-industrial complex, the fake candid photos, the relentless performative happiness. Would I go back? Ask me again in six months. But probably not.
